How We Choose Patterns

Our aim is to help you compare crochet projects using clear, traceable information. A place in a collection is not a guarantee that a pattern will suit every crocheter.

What we check

We review the original designer’s listing or tutorial for the pattern format, language, US or UK terminology, stated difficulty, materials, sizes and supporting photos or video. When a detail is not available, we leave it unspecified rather than guessing. Prices and availability can change; check the original source before buying.

How we choose a collection

We select designs around a specific reader need, such as flower bookmarks or small handmade gifts. We look for useful differences in construction, style, materials and tutorial format. Popularity or a marketplace bestseller badge alone does not establish quality or earn a recommendation.

Research is different from testing

Researched selections are based on published sources and are labelled accordingly. We do not describe a pattern as personally tested unless someone has actually made it for the article. Any hands-on review should identify who tested it and include their observations. A designer’s difficulty rating is attributed to the designer; we do not promise completion times or results.

Creators, images and instructions

We credit the designer and link to the original pattern. We do not reproduce paid instructions. Images must be our own, used with permission, or supplied under a licence that permits the intended use. A credit or purchase of a pattern does not by itself grant image reuse rights.

Commercial relationships

If an article contains affiliate links, paid placement or a gifted pattern, we disclose that relationship in the article near the relevant recommendation. An ordinary link does not necessarily earn a commission. Readers should be able to distinguish a researched selection, a hands-on review and sponsored content.
